Love on the Line began with a t-shirt

Love on the Line began with a t-shirt—but really, it began with a journey.

In 2018, I lost both of my parents just four months apart.

The following year, in June 2019, I walked into a line dance class—

the unexpected happened. An instructor saw a spark in me and

encouraged me to attend the Heart of Texas Line Dance Event in March 2020.

In the nine months before the event, something beautiful began to grow.

Through weekly dancing, I found joy again. I found purpose. I found connection.

As the event approached, I wanted to create something that expressed what I was feeling.

That’s when I designed a shirt that said: “I thank God…(insert steps)...that I get to dance with you.”

The response was overwhelming. People connected with its message and then also with me.

That’s when the idea grew—to create shirts with messages of love and encouragement on the back,

so that as we danced line by line, those messages could be seen, felt, and shared.

Love on the Line was born through the lines of a dance…and through the lines of a t-shirt.

But it became something even more. At events, I began noticing people—

those standing alone, those feeling discouraged, those just needing a moment of connection.

Love on the Line took on a deeper, more literal meaning.

It became about showing up for people— on the dance floor and beyond.

At the heart of it all is a Love that is deep and personal. A Love that leaves heaven,

steps into our world, to go to the line for us. A Role Model that shared

the kind of inclusive love and compassion that I want to emulate.

After retiring from 30 years of church work, I felt called to bring this vision to life in a new way—

one that welcomes everyone, meets people where they are on and off the dance floor,

and simply shares love through presence, kindness, and connection.

My hope is that Love on the Line continues to grow—

reaching people across dance floors and around the world.

With every step, let’s share love on the line.
